Founder & Owner
Paul Allen has more than 35 years experience in financial services. He started his career in academics as an Assistant Professor of Finance at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. After a successful tenure of research publications, he was hired by Freddie Mac and began a 20-year run as a senior executive in the mortgage services industry. During that time, he worked at Fannie Mae, Dime Bancorp and Taylor, Bean & Whitaker Mortgage Corp (TBW). With the latter two employers, he was CFO and CEO, respectively.
Due to his impeccable reputation and high integrity, the owner of TBW (Lee Farkas) targeted Mr. Allen to serve as an unwitting accomplice to help Farkas perpetrate a massive fraud that led to investors losing over $2 billion in lending against fake loans. Mr. Allen cooperated with the Government probe of TBW, yet was still sentenced to 40 months in prison from 2011-14.
Upon release, Mr. Allen has worked with local start-ups in the Northern Virginia area in many different fields. He has also returned to his roots in higher education and works with several organizations that help students prepare for college.
Mr. Allen received his Ph.D. in finance, economics and mathematics from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. He holds an M. S. in economics from the London School of Economics. He also has an M.B.A. and B. A. (magna cum laude) from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Allen has given more than 100 presentations to Boards of Directors including Fortune 100 companies, and 300 presentations to analysts’ conferences, including NY Society of Security Analysts.
